Compare moving companies on the same checklist.
A fair comparison starts with equal inputs and ends with a written question—not a government-style score. Put identity, role, price terms, timing, and protection beside one another.
Give each company the same facts
Use the same origin, destination, dates, inventory, access conditions, packing needs, storage needs, and special items with every candidate. Save each estimate version so an omitted service does not look like a lower price.
Record the legal name, USDOT number, broker or carrier role, estimate type, included services, payment terms, and delivery window in separate columns.
- Same inventory and requested services
- Same route, dates, and access details
- Same questions about price and responsibility
Choose clarity before a headline number
Ask which estimate terms, added charges, valuation options, and claims process apply. A lower number is not like-for-like if it leaves out packing, access work, storage, or protection information.
